Advising First: Advising Plus
Advising Plus is an Academic Success Coaching program housed within Advising First and the Division of Undergraduate Studies at The Florida State University. Advising Plus offers a structured program to help students improve effectiveness in and out of the classroom. Advising Plus Coaches serve as knowledgeable resources on campus who help students develop goals for the future and the plans for achieving those goals. Coaches also encourage students to get the most out of their college experience by participating in extracurricular activities/special programs and better utilizing campus resources.
The Advising Plus Coaching Center is located in the Eppes-Kellogg Building and is staffed by twelve full-time coaches and one full-time program manager. These twelve coaches meet with their assigned students every other week throughout the students' first year at The Florida State University. The coaches work closely with academic advisors across campus to support their students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
For the 2009-2010 academic year, 1500 students were randomly selected to participate in the program. Due to the selection process, Advising Plus is not open to students who were not already pre-selected for the program.
