Advising First: Center for Success Coaching
The Center for Success Coaching is located in the newly renovated Johnston Building on Landis Green. In this centrally located facility, 12 full-time Coaches work with approximately 1/5 of our incoming freshman class (1300 students). In addition to our freshman coaching center, we have three full-time Success Coaches located in the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) in UCA 5400. Our C.A.R.E. Coaches provide success coaching to all second-year C.A.R.E. students.
Success Coaches are dedicated to helping students get the most out of their college experience. Pre-selected students will receive one-on-one attention twice per month from a coach who is committed to student development and success. Coaches work closely with academic advisors and other resources across campus to support students in achieving their personal, academic, and other professional goals. Our Success Coaches work with students in the following areas in order to help them maximize their college experience:
- Improving effectiveness in and out of the classroom
- Connecting students to the campus community
- Building leadership skills
- Creating balance and managing stress
- Boosting self-confidence and developing goals for the future
