What’s your favorite part of working with students?
I love working with college students because it’s such a transformative time in their lives. I really love the opportunity to witness their growth and response to new perspectives – not just academically, but personally and socially as well. Getting to be part of that journey to support them in navigating challenges and celebrating successes is always a rewarding pursuit.

What’s a fun or surprising fact about you that students might not guess?
I actually dropped out of two Master’s programs before finally settling into the Sport Management MS program at FSU and getting my Master’s degree. A lot of the students I meet with struggle with major selection and career guidance, so I always hope that my experience can give them encouragement that you might not be totally sure of your direction but you’ll eventually figure it out. Pursue the things you enjoy and sort out your priorities and the path will make itself clear with time.

What’s a Tallahassee event or festival you always recommend to students?
The Tallahassee Greek Food Festival is a non-negotiable for me. The food is incredible, and it’s always in October so the fall weather is just starting to get going. It’s also good exposure to a culture that many students may not be familiar with. Definitely a must-see in Tallahassee!

Student Testimonial
“Having someone to talk to as cool as Ivan every other week was an imperative part of my first year here at FSU. Ivan helped me figure out issues in my relationships, school, and extracurricular. Having Ivan as my life coach was one of the most important parts of finding success during my first year of college.”
